Statewide Waste and Environmental Education Foundation recently rolled our the WASTE IN THE CITY initiative across Surulere LGA, Coker-Aguda LCDA and Itire-Ikate LCDA as part of its environmental sustainability activities sponsored by The Coca-Cola Foundation.
According to Amb. Obuesi Phillips, the President/CEO of the Foundation, “WASTE IN THE CITY” is a Community engagements and sensitization campaign. It is a Plastic (PET Bottles) recovery initiative helping to unclog blocked drains and canals through the extraction of PET bottles, Cans and other plastic waste, and recycling them through accredited offtakers.
WASTE IN THE CITY campaign withe the slogan “…keep it clean and green!” is a passionate commitment to create free flowing Lagos drains and canals.
A plastic waste recovery campaign driven by the Foundation and sponsored by The Coca-Cola Foundation.
The Foundation now is hosting environmental town hall meetings across Surulere LGA, Coker-Aguda and Itire-Ikate LCDAs as part of its Community engagement strategy to drive home the WASTE IN THE CITY initiative. The first of the town hall meetings hosted on the 26th January 2021 in Surulere LGA with the Executive Chairman Him. Tajudeen Ajide in attendance. Others were the HOD Environment Hon. Isaac Obikoya and the Supervisor for Environment Hon. Yinka Jonathan.
The second town hall meeting hosted on the 2nd February 2021 in Coker-Aguda LCDA with the members of the Executive and Legislative arm of the council development area in attendance, including the CDC Chairman, religious and market leaders.
The Foundation plans the 3rd town hall meeting to hold 9th February 2021 in Itire-Ikate LCDA. Arrangements are concluded as stakeholders are gearing up for the epoch making event.
